TRASIMENO HILLS WINE TRAIL

Eno-touristic route which will take you around the most beautiful spots on the lake while stopping in the wineries that are continuing the centuries-old tradition of the Trasimeno area wine. The trail passes through Tuoro, Passignano, Magione, Corciano, Città della Pieve, Panicale, Piegaro and Castiglione del Lago.

UMBRIA D.O.P. EXTRA-VIRGIN OLIVE OIL TRAIL

This is a route that passes through the areas where the high-quality Umbrian oil is produced. Each year, during olive-picking season (November), visits are organized in mills around the region. Watch the olives being pressed and taste the freshly pressed oil.

You will find in your apartment a sample bottle of our extra-virgin organic olive oil. Before leaving, don't forget to visit our oil cellar with the 1800s terracotta oil containers. You will also be able to buy our oil to bring back home, as a tasty souvenir of I Casali di Colle San Paolo.

Other local gastronomic specialties: torta al testo (a sort of unleavened white pizza filled with prosciutto and vegetables or sausages and vegetables); salty cheese cake and cheese bread (especially at Easter and in the spring); at Lake Trasimeno: lake fish and "fagiolina del Trasimeno", a small and white bean, that because of its slow growth, had risked extinction; in Città della Pieve: saffron.

Truffle hunting. Our neighbour of the Castle of Mongiovino is available to accompany our guests to look for truffles (black and white) in his woods, together with his excellent Labrador truffle dog. Between 1 June and 31 August. You will have the possibility of buying this rare delicacy at the end of the walk.

We suggest a visit to the many seasonal food events such as the Sagra degli Gnocchi in Monteleone d'Orvieto, the Sagra delle Castagne (Chestnuts) in Piegaro, the Sagra degli Asparagi di Bosco (Wild Asparagus) in Pietrafitta as well as others, such as the well-known chocolate feast Eurochocolate, which takes place in Perugia in the autumn. There are many fairs and feasts in the area during the summer. We will give you an updated list upon arrival.
